Artistate was founded by art lovers and enthusiasts, professionals specialising in the visual arts, who realised that artists had nowhere to go for advice about legacy planning, and those who inherited artist estates were usually left to figure things out for themselves.

They knew the ‘art world’ was a unique place with its own quirks and intricacies, and that artists were often (inadvertently) given poor or inappropriate advice simply through a lack of understanding.

No one can guarantee a legacy for an artist’s oeuvre but one can give it the best chance of enduring by removing obstacles and avoiding pitfalls, paving the way for its future.
